The purpose of the project is to strengthen the Gonococcal Antimicrobial Surveillance Programme (GASP) in the Philippines and develop a model of a global EGASP to improve the quality, comparability and timeliness of gonococcal antimicrobial susceptibility data. The overall objectives of the project are to monitor trends in antimicrobial susceptibilities in N. gonorrhoeae using standardized sampling and laboratory protocols at selected sentinel clinics and reference laboratories and to characterize male patients with gonorrhea at selected sentinel sites, particularly those infected with N. gonorrhoeae not susceptible to recommend antimicrobials.
In partnership with the Department of Health Epidemiology Bureau (EB) and the World Health Organization, activities conducted this year were as follows:
(a) Conduct of EGASP Webinar Among Manila LGU Health Center Physicians and Clinic Personnel
(b) Conduct of Online Clinic Monitoring (April 2021, July 2021)
